Updates to Manitoba Pinball website

If you frequent this site you may notice that the front page does not get updated much. I have been asked by Dave to help with updating the site. Going forward you will see blog posts some news and first impressions of pinball machines coming out.

Let me introduce myself you might have seen me around at league or tournaments but might not know much about me. I go by Mr.Miller at pinball events since the creator of the Manitoba Pinball League is named David as well.

Mr. Miller and Dave Morris

I got started into pinball really young around age 6. My grandpa had a machine in is basement bar. I can’t remember the name of the machine but whenever I would go over I wanted to play the machine. My grandpa sold the machine as it was breaking down and he did not want to fix it. If he wanted until I was older I would have bought it and tried to repair it. When arcades were still around I would look for pinball machines. I could play the arcade games at home and did not want to waste my money on a game with cranked up difficulty. I messaged Dave about the league while watching an event called Pinball Done Quick. It was at an event called Games Done Quick which is for speedrunners. Pinball Done Quick was seeing how fast you could get a mode started or multi-ball. I did a google search while no one was playing on the stream and found the Manitoba Pinball League Facebook page. I have been hooked on the pinball league since then. Manitoba Pinball League has reignited my interest in pinball. I was not sure of where to play before the league, Dave told me about the pinballmap app now when on vacation I look for the nearest place to play.

What makes pinball so appealing? For me, it is the sights and sounds of a machine. Pinball Arcade or virtual machines do not cut it for me. The sounds of the flippers and ball are missing in virtual machines. You can have fun on a machine without knowing the rules. Once you start to learn the rules a machine it becomes even more enjoyable. I like the fact that pinball does not have an ending unless you count the wizard mode as beating the game. These are some of the reasons I find pinball appealing.
