Come celebrate the new year at the Forks! Let’s play some casual pinball together in the evening until just before midnight & then we’ll head outside for the countdown to 2020 & then the new year’s fireworks right at midnight. 2019 MPL WOMEN’S LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP – RESULTS

It was a great night for some championship pinball over at the new Lightning Arcade, as we crowned the second ever women’s league champion in Manitoba.

Congratulations to Jill H on not only being the league points champ, but also winning the MPL women’s league playoffs & securing the 2019 women’s championship! And if you think Jill’s playoff run to gold was as easy as her season run, think again. In the semifinal, Jill & Samara had a fight to the finish going the full 7 games with Jill edging out Samara by a mere 7,000 points in the final game of Split Second. In the final, Jill beat Jody, who claimed her 2nd silver plaque in 2 years.

In the bronze match, Tammy K & Samara M battled down to the final game of Medieval Madness in the best of 3 series, with both players leapfrogging the other & both scoring well over 30 million! In the end, Tammy captured the bronze plaque with a last ball comeback.

And congrats to Michelle F for winning the best Christmas sweater competition! Honourable mentions went to Tiffany V & Franca C.

SELFIE CHALLENGE – HOLIDAY HOURS (updated DEC 25)

If you have some time off during the holidays & are looking to play in the selfie challenge or just get in some pinball practice, here are the holiday hours of operation for the 3 pinball locations involved in the selfie challenge:

PHANTOM AMUSEMENT @ THE FORKS

The Forks Market is open every day regular hours including holidays, but tenants of The Forks Market are closed on Christmas Day. However, Phantom Amusement should be open Christmas Day as well.

HALF PINTS

Christmas Eve – open 11am to 2pm
Christmas Day & Boxing Day – closed
New Year’s Eve – open until 6pm
New Year’s Day – closed

ASSINIBOINE MEMORIAL CURLING CLUB

Last day before holiday closure Saturday December 21
AMCC closed December 22 to January 2
AMCC will reopen Friday January 3, 2020

UGLY SWEATER CLASSICS TOURNAMENT – RESULTS

Back on Thursday December 12, Drew S hosted us at Sych Drywall where we had such a fun & festive time, things got UGLY! 😉

Congratulations to Derek W who won the Ugly Sweater Classics Tournament, his first win in nearly 3 years! He & Drew slayed the field, facing off in the final matches with only 1 strike each. Each player won 1 game, & it all came down to a final game on Haunted House where both players scored well over 500,000 each! Derek is also the 14th & final player to win a 2019 MB Pinball IFPA tournament.

3rd place required a tiebreaker in which Jay W defeated Garth B in a much uglier game of Haunted House. 😉

Also congratulations to Samara M who won for the ugliest sweater, & Jay W who took 2nd place! Both won prizes for their ugliness! Honourable mentions went to Brant B & Dave W.

IFPA MB point standings should be updated & finalized in a few days. We will then know who qualifies for the upcoming 2020 MB PCS in what position. PCS will take place on January 18, 2020. More details to follow.

Winter Selfie Challenge

Introducing the Winter Selfie Challenge an event where you can play whenever you want unless the venue is closed. Three games at Three different venues submit a selfie with your score to mr.miller@manitobapinball.com to count your score for the game. If your name is not in the email address please add in the body of the message when submitting scores.

The Scoring:

1st place on a machine gets 100 points. 2nd place gets 90 points. 3rd place gets 85 points. After 3rd place scores go down by one so 4th would get 84 points and 5th would get 83 points and so on. To get points on a machine you will need to play it. The highest point total at the end of the event will be the winner.

Prizes:

The winner will get a $25 gift card of their choosing. There will also be a random draw where the person selected will get a $25 gift card of their choosing. Due to IFPA rules requiring a judge present for all scores, there will be no IFPA points on the line.

Entry Fee:

This is a pay what you want event. All money collected will go towards purchasing streaming equipment for the league. Pay in person to a Manitoba Pinball League staff(Dave, Jay or Mr.Miller) or interac etransfer to dave@manitobapinball.com or mr.miller@manitobapinball.com

Deadline:

Scores must be submitted by February 10 at 11:59pm

Update:

Some games have been having issue with the score being blurry in the selfie. If the score appears blurry take two photos one selfie and one with just the score.
