We celebrated February 29th by having a Matchplay tournament at the Pandora Inn that featured A & B sides, & an added challenge for playoff qualifiers – karaoke singers that started just as the playoff round started! Nobody sang The Who’s Pinball Wizard, however.
And the winner, his 1st in 21 months since winning at Underdogs, was Kevin P!!! He & Jill faced off in the A side final. 3rd place went to David Morris who had faced off against Lance W.
Over on the B side, Drew S took the title having faced Jody L in the B final, & Michael C took 3rd place after facing Mr. Miller who took 4th.
A consolation game was played on each side to determine 5th through 8th. Note that IFPA ranks for the B side are 9-16. Full results below:

The Manitoba pinball tournament season has begun. We had 18 players including a few new people come out to the curling club along with many of the regulars & veterans, including at least 2 out of town veterans who regularly come a long way to make this truly the Manitoba Pinball League.
We welcomed back David Morris with a card signed by many league members. And it must’ve been a source of inspiration because Dave was the tournament winner! Dave & Jay W went head to head in a final 2 with Dave having only 1 strike to Jay’s 2 strikes. Jay won on Monopoly & was riding a streak of 6 1st places in a row. In the final deciding round, it came down to the very last ball in a close game of The Addams Family, but Dave was able to end Jay’s streak for the win.
Ian G & Grant Z played a 3rd place match on Space Shuttle, with Ian winning & taking the final spot on the podium.
Honourable mention goes to Hugh L who finished in 5th place in his 1st ever MPL tournament!
Videos of the tournament including interviews have been posted to the new MPL YouTube channel:

As always, check the Events Calendar at manitobapinball.com for full details. See you then!
For those coming to Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club for tonight’s pinball tournament, if you haven’t been to AMCC for a few months, you will notice that parking has changed a bit due to construction next door – the extended lot on the east side is no longer available. If you cannot find parking in front or beside the building, you can park behind the building on the north side. See the linked map below.
For those who have never been to AMCC, the pinball machines are upstairs on the 2nd floor. Easiest way to find them is to enter in the side door (east side), the stairs upstairs will be on your left, go up & turn left – you will see the machines along the wall opposite the curling rinks.
Also a friendly reminder:
We will have dinner together at 5pm if you want to join us
Tournament start time is 6pm
Bring loonies & quarters – limited change on site
During the woman’s and open league you might have noticed a video camera filming people play. That was for our Youtube channel. Click the link or search for Manitoba Pinball League in Youtube. The channel will have some small clips of people playing then interviews after league nights and tournaments. After tournaments we would like to interview the winner of the tournament as well as anyone that is interested. Look for Dave, Jay or Mr.Miller if you want to be interviewed. The interviews should not take to much time.
We are always looking at how to improve things with the site and event information.
One thing we are testing out is a new way of posting the Events. Currently there is a new page with Trial Calendar and its using Google Calendars. There is a link on the page to add this calendar to either iCal or Google Calendar so you have the most current version active at all time on your end.
We have also added a Code of Conduct to the site which is your IFPA rules with a few extra additions as well. Please take a moment to read it.
We are also setting up a email@example.com email so that if you have issues / concerns at an event and would prefer to email us we can help you from there.
And lastly some people have an issue clicking on a link on your smart device, if you have auto rotate active, pivot the device into landscape and you should be able to click your link, again a code issue. Will also mention on the trial calendar page in landscape you get a little blurb added to the date box as there is a bit more room to populate it.
Another PCS day has come & gone. We celebrated birthdays, we ate some wonderful food, & we of course played some friendly, yet competitive pinball in order to crown a Manitoba champion.
Congratulations to Drew S who captured the 2020 IFPA Manitoba PCS title! Drew went 4-0, 4-2, 4-3, & 4-0 en route to the championship. Drew defeated defending champion Jay W, who took 2nd place & the silver plaque. 3rd place & the bronze plaque went to Ian G who defeated Garth B in the bronze match.
Happy birthday to Grant, who celebrated his birthday on PCS day! And Happy birthday to Marcel who will be celebrating on Tuesday!
